Norton Sound Health Corporation

Legislative Priorities

When it was established in 1970, Norton Sound Health Corporation was one of the first Native health organizations in the country to assume complete responsibility for the medical care of the people it serves. In the more than four decades that have passed since, NSHC has never lost sight of its commitment to caring for its consumers.

NSHC's top legislative priorities for 2015 include suicide prevention; violence prevention; village water/sewer/solid waste projects; breakway/runway for passenger/patient transport in Diomede; EMS and firefighting equipment; village clinic operations and maintenance supplemental for utilities and heating fuel; vehicles for villages; planning funds for treatment and research center; state grant program inflationary energy funding; and support for power cost equalization to include health care facilities.
