About NSHC…
Norton Sound Health Corporation (NSHC), headquartered in Nome, Alaska, was founded in 1970 to serve the health care needs of the Inupiat, Siberian Yup'ik, and Yup'ik people of the Bering Strait region of northwest Alaska. NSHC was one of the first Native American health organizations in the country to assume complete responsibility for medical care of the people it serves. How do I apply?
Interested individuals can apply for open NSHC positions by coming to the Human Resources office between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm and completing the application. NSHC applications may also be mailed to Human Resources at P. O. Box 966, Nome, AK 99762 Attention: Employment Manager or faxed to (907) 443-2085 Attention: Employment Manager. What happens during the Recruitment process?
NSHC is committed to recruiting and
retaining qualified individuals as part of
its mission to provide the best quality
healthcare possible. All job applications
are carefully reviewed to determine if the
applicant meets the position’s requirements
for skills and qualifications.
NSHC also conducts employment
verification checks and criminal background
and fingerprint checks for all positions.
NSHC is covered by the Indian Child
Protection Act (ICPA) and some applicants
may be disqualified by criminal convictions
from positions which involve regular contact
with or control over children. If you have
questions regarding ICPA, please contact the
Human Resources Department for a list of
covered positions and disqualifying crimes.
As a tribal organization which operates
under the Indian Self Determination and
Education Assistance Act, NSHC exercises an
Alaskan Native/American Indian hiring
preference under PL 93-638.
All successful applicants will be
required to provide current immunization
records (MMR, hepatitis), proof of rubella
immunity, TB skin test (PPD) status
documentation, current license/certification
(if applicable) and proof of citizenship or
legal residency (i.e. Social Security card
and drivers license/identification card,
birth certificate, legalized resident
documents, etc.).
