BRIEF SUMMARY OF JOB:

Assist the DPP Coordinator and lead educator with certain aspects of the diabetes prevention project. Responsible for assisting with the establishment of a recruitment program. Will recruit participants and arrange/schedule appointments. Maintain a log of any attempt to contact community members. Call participants to remind them of upcoming appointments and reschedule or recruit when need arises. Assist with clerical duties such as data entry, lab result letters and shipment of specimen. Assist with health education. Administer Consent Forms and Medical Authorization. Responsible for advertisement of project. Coordinate community based activities in the community. Work will be performed in accordance with NSHC’s mission, philosophy, policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Degree in community/health education preferred, but not required.

Registration/Certification: CPR/BLS certification is required (may obtain within 2 months date of hire.)

Experience: Requires one year of demonstrated work experience.

Skills: This position requires good organizational skills with attention to detail. Must be able to communicate effectively (oral and written). Possess ability to follow detailed written and oral instruction. Demonstrate professionalism, consideration and confidentiality towards others.

Physical Requirements : Must be in good general health. Must be physically able to talk, hear, type, file, write, bend, stoop, reach and ability lift 50 pounds or more. Continuous amount of walking, sitting and/or standing is required. Must be able to fly in small aircraft.

Personal Traits: Must be courteous, accountable, and responsible for self and actions; dependable, honest, cooperative, adaptable, versatile, mature, good listener, objective and able to remain calm under stress. Must have ability to adapt emotional responses to the needs of people of varying temperament and disability. Working Conditions: Work will be performed in a variety of settings.

Work Hours: Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, times varying depending on group and activities coordinated.
