Active COVID-19 Cases in Region at 201
Nome, Alaska – On Monday, Nov. 8, NSHC identified 19 COVID-19 cases between five regional communities.
Of the new cases, 11 are in Nome, four are in Savoonga, two are in Gambell, one is in Elim, and one is in St. Michael. All individuals have been notified and are safely isolating.
NSHC is still offering Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson booster COVID-19 vaccinations to anyone 18 years and older. To increase antibody levels and boost immune responses, anyone eligible can ask their clinic to receive a booster shot.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend a COVID-19 booster shot for anyone aged 65 and older, for those who are aged 18-64 years with medical conditions, employees and residents at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission, and long-term care setting residents aged 18 years and older.
NSHC offers booster shots to anyone 18 years and older who is at least 6 months past their second dose of Moderna or Pfizer or two months past their Johnson & Johnson dose. NSHC medical providers encourage people to get any booster that is currently available to them, regardless of whether it was the vaccine they received in their original series.
In Nome, the COVID-19 booster vaccinations will only be available at the pharmacy. To schedule an appointment in Nome, please visit https://www.picktime.com/NSHC. In a village, anyone eligible can call their local clinic to make an appointment or get added to a waitlist.
