Active COVID-19 Cases in Region at 209

Nome, Alaska – Between Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 10-11, Norton Sound Health Corporation identified 39 COVID-19 cases between six regional communities.

Of the new cases, 16 are in Nome, 14 are in Savoonga, three are in Brevig, three are in Shishmaref, one is in Unalakleet, one is in Gambell, and one is in White Mountain. All individuals have been notified and are safely isolating.

In the region, COVID-19 vaccines are now available for children ages 5-11 years old. NSHC strongly encourages parents to make appointments for their children, as walk-in vaccinations can be limited.

In Nome, you can make an appointment at www.picktime.com/NSHC. In a village community, please contact your local clinic to be added to the waitlist.

There are currently 209 active cases in the region: 92 are in Savoonga, 77 are in Nome, 11 are in Unalakleet, 13 are in Gambell, five are in Elim, five are in Brevig, three are in Shishmaref, two are in White Mountain, and one is in St. Michael. Village leadership in all communities have been notified.
