Close Contact Cases Identified in Nome
Nome, Alaska – Norton Sound Health Corporation identified three COVID-19 cases in Nome on Tuesday, Dec. 28. All individuals have been notified and are safely isolating.
There are currently nine active cases in the region: five are in Nome, two are in Unalakleet, and two are in Stebbins. Village leadership in all communities have been notified.
On Friday, Dec. 31, Norton Sound Health Corporation, including village clinics, will be closed for Year Year’s Eve.
The ER will remain open for any emergencies and acute needs during this time. The Cough and Cold Clinic will also be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends for anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and would like to see a physician.
The Nome Operations Building Testing Center, normally open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., will be closed. Testing will be available to incoming travelers at the airport.
