Nome, Alaska – On Wednesday, December 29, Norton Sound Health Corporation identified four positive COVID-19 cases in Nome. Three of the patients are close contacts to previously identified cases and one is community spread. They have been notified and are safely isolating.
Norton Sound Health Corporation, including village clinics, will close on Friday, Dec. 31 for New Year’s Eve. The ER will remain open for any emergencies and acute needs during this time. The Cough and Cold Clinic will also be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends for anyone experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and would like to see a physician. COVID-19 testing will also be available to incoming travelers from Alaska Airlines.
The Nome Testing Center in the Operations Building will be closed on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. To make an appointment after the holiday, visit www.picktime.com/NSHC.

There are currently nine active cases in the region: six in Nome, two in Stebbins, and one in Unalakleet. Village leadership in all communities has been notified.
