Four of the new cases were in Brevig Mission, all of which were individuals with close contact to previous cases.

Three of the new cases were found in Nome, one of which was a NSHC employee. Two were close contacts to previous cases, and one was due to community spread.

Of the 88 active COVID-19 cases regionwide, 33 are in Nome, 32 are in Koyuk, 11 are in Shaktoolik, six are in Brevig Mission, three are in St. Michael, two are in Gambell, and one is in Unalakleet.

With the continued rise of COVID-19 cases in the state and region, NSHC has updated its dental testing guidelines. COVID-19 testing is now advised for all patients, including those who have been vaccinated. Patients should schedule a COBAS (non-rapid) COVID-19 test 24-48 hours before their appointment.

Testing for COVID-19 is open daily for asymptomatic people from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Nome Operations Building, located at the corner of Greg Kruschek Avenue and K Street. The Testing Center is open during the lunch hour, but staffing is limited. Please visit www.picktime.com/NSHC to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome.

The Cough and Cold Clinic is available for testing every day for symptomatic patients. It is located on the first floor of the hospital and is open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on weekends. You can call the direct line to the clinic at (907) 443-3231.

In the region’s villages, please call your local clinic to get tested or vaccinated.

If you have any questions, you can contact NSHC’s COVID response team at  or the Public Relations department at .
