Norton Sound Health Corporation received a total of $14,485 in additional grant funding from Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Clinical Quality Improvement Awards. These awards were based on data submitted for all primary care sites in 2016 in the annual uniform data system (federal submission) report.
In 2016, NSHC ranked among the top 25 percent of federally qualified health centers in the following categories: colorectal cancer screening rates, asthma treatment, coronary artery disease treatment, ischemic vascular disease treatment, and diabetes care.
Since 2013, NSHC has shown significant improvement in diabetes care, asthma treatment, depression screening, colon cancer screening (from 7 percent to 61 percent of patients screened), and tobacco screening and referral.
NSHC would like to recognize its Patient Benefits team, as the percentage of uninsured patients decreased from 34.8 percent in 2013 to 26.5 percent in 2016. Enrollments in Medicare, Medicaid, and Dual Eligible all increased.
This additional funding will be used toward quality improvement programs and continuing to improve patient care.
