Active COVID-19 Cases in Most of Region
Nome, Alaska – Norton Sound Health Corporation identified five positive COVID-19 cases on Monday, August 30, bringing the total number of active cases to 97 in 10 different communities.
Of the new cases, two are in Nome, one is in Stebbins, one is in Brevig Mission, and one is in Golovin. Patients have been notified and are safely isolating.
Of regionwide active cases, 51 are in Stebbins, 16 are in St. Michael, seven are in Nome, seven are in Little Diomede, six are in Savoonga, four are in Elim, two are in Unalakleet, two are in Koyuk, one is in Brevig, and one is in Golovin.
As moose hunting season approaches, it is important to monitor your health and stay alert for COVID-19 symptoms in settings where it may be difficult to keep a physical distance of 6 feet. These symptoms range from fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, headache, sore throat, congestion, or runny nose. If you feel ill, NSHC urges people to stay home and contact their local clinic to get tested.
The Cough and Cold Clinic in Nome is available for testing seven days a week. It is located on the first floor of the hospital and is open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on weekends.
