COVID-19 Case Found in Nome Resident

Nome, Alaska – On June 30, Norton Sound Health Corporation identified one positive COVID-19 case in a resident of Nome. The source of the virus is community spread. The patient is safely isolating, and close contacts have been notified.

There are currently 14 active COVID-19 cases in the region.

On July 3 – 4 from 1 – 5 p.m., NSHC’s new COVID-19 Wellness Bus will provide the community of Nome with the option to get vaccinated over the holiday weekend at Anvil City Square. The Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccinations will be available, no appointment necessary. Everyone in the region who is 12 years and older is eligible for COVID-19 vaccination.

NSHC, including village clinics, will be closed on Monday, July 5, in observation of Independence Day.

The ER will remain open for any emergencies and acute needs during this time.

The Cough and Cold Clinic will also be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and can be reached at (907) 443-3231.

The Nurse Call Line – a free, Nome-based medical advice service – is available at 443-6411.
