Nome, Alaska – Norton Sound Health Corporation is committed to opposing racial inequity and working to change the tide of systemic racism. NSHC provides quality and respectful health care to all patients in the region and works to uplift and support all members of its staff, regardless of color.
Prolonged injustice toward black people, indigenous people, and people of color nationwide has taken its toll and recently boiled over into events of historic and monumental proportions. Watching these events play out, even from afar in places like Western Alaska, can bring up feelings of post-traumatic stress, depression, helplessness, and anxiety. NSHC would like to offer its support to anyone who may be feeling the weight of these troubling times.
If you need someone to talk to about overwhelming feelings, please reach out to Behavioral Health Services at (907) 443-3344. After hours and on weekends, please call the Nurse Call Line, which can connect you with a BHS provider, at (907) 443-6411.
NSHC believes the events of late call for a major shift in systemic practices that continue to marginalize racial minorities. NSHC offers its solidarity to the Black Lives Matter movement and supports bringing justice, healing, and freedom to those in need.
