One Case Confirmed in Nome
On December 2, there was one positive COVID-19 case identified in Nome.
The patient is considered to be a close contact to a previously identified COVID-19 case, which will be investigated further by the State of Alaska Section of Epidemiology and Public Health Nursing. The addition of this case brings the total number of active cases in Nome to 43, with zero active cases in our region’s villages. There is an estimate of 160 people in Nome who are currently quarantining.
If you are considered to be close contacts of someone who tested positive for COVID-19, or you would like another option to get tested for COVID-19, NSHC now has drive-up appointments available. NSHC staff has created a drive-up testing parking spot near the entry door to the registration area in front of the Nome Operations Building. The parking spot is outlined with yellow posts. You can schedule a drive-up appointment, as well as a rapid testing appointment, at picktime.com/NSHC. To help detect the virus early and to stay proactive, NSHC recommends that one member of each household be tested once every two weeks.
If you develop a cough, fever, shortness of breath, vomiting, diarrhea, congestion, fatigue, headache, or loss of taste or smell, please immediately quarantine and make an appointment at the Cough and Cold Clinic by calling the main appointment desk at (907) 443-3333. You can also call the direct line to the Cough and Cold Clinic at (907) 443-9666 or (907) 443-4200.
