One Community Spread COVID-19 Case Identified in Nome
Nome, Alaska – On Thursday, May 13, Norton Sound Health Corporation identified a positive case of COVID-19 in a Nome resident. The case is believed to be acquired through community spread. The patient is safely isolating and their close contacts are being notified.
The addition of this case brings the total number of active COVID-19 cases in the region to nine.
COVID-19 vaccinations are available to everyone 12 years and older in the region.
In Nome, vaccinations are available at the following places and times:
• Nome NSHC Pharmacy – Walk-in vaccinations are available every Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. for anyone 12 years and older. Appointments are available Monday-Saturday at picktime.com/NSHC.
• Nome airport – Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are offered to passengers 12 years and older on incoming flights.
• Nome post office – Johnson & Johnson walk-in vaccinations are available every Monday-Friday from 12-3:30 p.m. for anyone ages 16 years and older.
In the region’s villages, residents can contact their local clinic to schedule a vaccination.
