Engineering Department: NSHC’s Engineering team ensures that all patients and staff are provided a clean, safe and comfortable space to provide and receive healthcare. Our team consists of Environmental Services, Plant Operations, Security and Capital Projects. Environmental Services is responsible for maintaining the Infection Control and Healthcare Cleaning Standards. Security is tasked with maintaining a secure and safe space for patients to receive healthcare. Plant Operations is tasked with keeping all building systems operational including heat, water, and medical utilities. Capital Projects is tasked with the ongoing operations of all NSHC facilities and the long term planning for NSHC future expansion. Capital Projects also manages all new construction projects.
Office of Environmental Health: Environmental Health is a branch of Public Health that focuses on how the built & natural environment can impact human health, either positively or negatively. OEH works with the people & organizations of the Bering Strait Region to identify, evaluate, control, and ultimately prevent environmental health issues.
